Education

I grew up in Lincoln County, TN and graduated from what was then Central High School. I attended UAH for 1 year and earned a Bachelors degree in Political Science from Tennessee Tech University. I later earned a Bachelors degree in Secondary Education/Social Science from Athens State University. Because of my Political Science degree, Highly Qualified standards are met under the No Child Left Behind provisions.

I have completed the following training: Positive Behavioral Supports, Awareness, Technology in Motion, Making Sense Strategies, along with other professional development opportunities.

Experience

As my children have grown, I have taught preschool, middle school, and high school students.  I have taught American History at the Career Technical Center since February of 2004. This position offers the opportunity to meet students from all over Limestone County.

Bio

I am a native of Tennessee and have lived in Alabama since 1991. My husband and I met at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN, and have been married nearly 27 years. We have 3 children ages 22, 18, and 13. The youngest attends school in the Athens City system. Our oldest daughter is a senior at UAH, and our son will be a freshman at UNA this fall.  We have 3 cats (Timber, Fudgie, and Snickers) who live indoors with us.  My whole family enjoys watching sports and cheering on the Atlanta Braves, Tennessee Volunteers, and Tennessee Titans. Our oldest daughter is married to her sweetheart, a TN native and avid UT fan, so he fits right into our family!

I am a member of Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society, Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society, Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Cambridge Who's Who for Professionals and received the Outstanding Social Science Major Award & Secondary Professional Promise Award from Athens State University. I am honored to have been named the school level Teacher of the Year for 2008. I currently serve as a faculty advisor for Limestone County's charter Leo Club organization. The Leo Club is affiliated with the Lion's Club and assists with community service projects.

Please feel free to contact me anytime through e-mail or the school office at 233-6463. I am looking forward to a great year with my students! My e-mail address is Holly.Thompson@lcsk12.org.
