Students are introduced to a wide variety of healthcare careers and master skills such as checking vital signs, first-aid, CPR, and other advanced patient care skills. Additionally, students gain comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology and have the opportunity to obtain articulated credit. Students complete clinical rotations at local health care facilities to gain experience in the field. They may also have the opportunity to earn their certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Patient Care Technician.

Foundations of Health Science  #490007

Be introduced to a wide variety of healthcare careers, terminology and knowledge. Master skills such as Vital Signs, First-Aid and CPR.

Human Body Structure and Function #490015

Learn human anatomy and physiology concepts and how they relate to patient care.

Health Science Internship  #490014

After completing the pre-requisite of Foundations of Health Science, students will complete advanced medical terminology curriculum, advanced skills, and complete clinical rotations at the local healthcare facilities.

CREDENTIALING CERTIFICATION OPPORTUNITIES

Our goal is to provide students with the opportunity to build stackable credentials such as CPR, AED, and First Aid as they navigate their programs of study. Students also have an opportunity to earn a certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. This will make our students more valuable to potential employers. Students will also have an opportunity to obtain Dual Enrollment through Calhoun Community College for Medical Terminology.

Students may receive articulated credit through the Alabama State Community College System after completing quality assurance criteria in this Career Technical program.
