In the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration program, students build foundational knowledge to prepare them for a variety of careers in the HVACR industry. Our program works with industry professionals to prepare students for the workforce or post secondary education.

Available Credentials:

EPA 608
EPA 608 is an industry recognized certification that is required for HVACR technicians.

Calhoun Community College Dual Enrollment
Students will have opportunities to complete classes through Calhoun Community College that credit toward an HVACR Associates Degree. Classes are typically free to Limestone County CTC students. Students are required to maintain a 2.5 GPA to participate.

SkillsUSA
HVACR students are active members in SkillsUSA. SkillsUSA is a co-curricular, career technical student organization. Students will have opportunities to learn employability skills through leadership training, community service, and local, district, state, and national competitions.

Students learn basic skills and knowledge required in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration industry, including safety, mathematical skills, tool identification, component identification, and basic HVACR processes.

Students will learn to read wiring diagrams, use electrical trainers, braze, learn basic troubleshooting, equipment installation, and ductwork assembly and installation.

Students will explore available opportunities in the HVACR industry. Students will focus on obtaining the EPA 608 certification, and use their knowledge to repair equipment in “live work” scenarios.
