The purpose of Work-Based Learning is to provide on the job experiences/apprenticeships (paid) or internships (unpaid) in licensed local businesses that typically cannot be obtained in the classroom. Earn 2 credits toward graduation! Make good use of your time when not in your core classes!

You may be eligible if you are a student that has obtained concentrator status (completing two courses within a CTE program) or successfully completed the Career Preparedness course which will count as a CTE course, or are taking an AP or Dual Enrollment class. i.e. Dual History, AP Computer Science, Dual Welding, Dual HVAC etc.

Step 1. Start the application process!

The student must fill out Application For Enrollment for LCCTC WBL.

Student must be a junior, or at least 16 years of age.

Student drivers must have a valid Alabama Driver’s License and must furnish proof of their liability coverage for the automobile.

Students must maintain transportation to continue with this work-based experience.

Step 2. Make sure you are on track to graduate!

Student must be on track for graduation. The Student has an acceptable attendance, grade, and discipline record as verified by the Coordinator or Counselor.

The student has to provide the names of a minimum of three educators that know and are not related to the student who will complete teacher recommendation forms including the teacher of the career cluster course, if applicable.

Step 3. Have a great work ethic!

Be professional, on time, and school rules apply even when you are at work.
