Topics include: Cosmetology history, opportunities, professional image, infection control, and basic fundamentals and principles of hair care and hair design. This class is a prerequisite to all other courses.

Hair Coloring #510061

Chemical Services #510062

This course enables students to develop entry-level skills for the Cosmetology industry. Students practice all phases of Cosmetology in a salon setting.

Intro to Spa Techniques #510063

Students will be expected to work independently, meet all course goals, demonstrate their understanding of the concepts, and prepare for licensure.


Our goal is to provide students with the opportunity to build stackable credentials such as Barbicide: Infection Control Certification as they nagivate their programs of study. This will make our students more valuable to potential employers. Cosmetology offers the following certification opportunity:

  • Barbering Licensure
  • Cosmetology Licensure
  • Natural Hair Styling Licensure

Students may receive ARTICULATED credit through the Alabama State Community College System after completing quality assurance criteria in this Career Technical program.
